Scott Lehmann and Shayna Unger, deaf mountaineers, educators, storytellers, and Mountain Hardwear athletes, were born into multigenerational deaf families and raised in the deaf community. They've conquered some of the world's highest peaks, including Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, Mont Blanc, and Matterhorn. ⛰️
This time, they're not climbing, but running in the New York City Marathon, and we're so proud. If you'd like to join them and support this awesome cause, RSVP HERE!

Miriam Morrow has 30 years of experience teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to children, adults, college students, family members of deaf children, and professionals. She appears in several ASL educational CD-ROMS for children and adults. She is currently teaching ASL at New York University and is an ASL consultant nation-wide where she provides professional development on a variety of topics.

This workshop is for students beginning to advance and focuses on improving reception, production and articulation of fingerspelling.
An intensive workshop on how to improve your expressive and receptive skills in fingerspelling. Participants will learn tricks on how to become comfortable and familiar with the production rules of fingerspelling. Native fingerspelling techniques used by the Deaf community will be shared. Activities will give participants opportunities to practice and enjoy the learning process!

ASL Slam is a monthly event that offers the stage to audience members to come up and rap, rhapsodize and rehash or just relate in sign language. We provide a safe space for the sign language community to play with our language(s). Host: Zavier Sabio. 2024 dates:

Following a seven-year long surrogacy process, gay deaf couple Alan and Brian finally brought their hearing twin babies home from India to New York. However, their journey through fatherhood meets new challenges when the increasingly rambunctious kids start screaming "you don't understand me" at them. "LOUD Love" is their story, a documentary about parenting, growth and its occasional hurdles.

Fun! History! Interactive activities! Learn ASL in depth with Robert DeMayo.
Robert DeMayo is a professional actor, entertainer, educator and ASL consultant. He is a graduate of the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, where he first began performing as a clown in The Silent Alley. He attended the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY and toured professionally with: Sunshine Too, Cleveland Sign Stage Theatre and National Theatre of the Deaf. He starred in many noteworthy NTD productions. Robert also served as the Artistic Director for New York Deaf Theatre. Robert was the ASL consultant and actor in the feature film Universal Signs and appeared in No Ordinary Hero. He has appeared in dozens of Q&A’s with the film around the world. He has taught ASL at the Juilliard School, Connecticut Total Immersion Program , and Arizona Total Immersion Program in a 20 year span. Robert has been working at SLC for six years . He has his own "Sign With Robert" ASL series.

Dr. Carolyn McCaskill is a graduate of the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talladega, Alabama. In 1977, she completed a BA degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work, and a MA degree in Counseling of the Deaf in 1979 both from Gallaudet (College) University. Dr. McCaskill successfully defended her dissertation in January, 2005 one year after her younger sister. This made her the second deaf black female to earn a Ph.D from Gallaudet University.
