Courtney Rodriguez

Born into a hearing Puerto Rican family in Queens, NY, I am the only Deaf family member of my family. My educational journey began at St. Frances de Sales for the Deaf and at the age of 8, I transitioned to mainstream education where I continued throughout high school.

After moving to Florida, I spent 10 years there, figuring out which career I wanted to do, earning my Associate’s degree in Interpreting. In 2022, I returned to NYC and am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s while working as a freelance Deaf interpreter and teaching ASL.

Teaching ASL has become a newfound passion for me - it’s not only an enriching experience but also incredibly fun! Outside of work, I’m a basketball enthusiast with a particular love for women’s sports, an avid reader, a dedicated crocheter and a coffee lover who can never resist a good cup of brew!

I’m excited to share my knowledge of Deaf Culture and Awareness with you, along with some fun stories along the way!
